Hello,

I have an ipad mini 2 with iOS 12.5.7. I'm trying to install an app that requires iOS 15. I'm not sure how to update my iOS to 15.

I have Automatic Updates turned on which I'm told should update to the latest iOS. But the update is not being triggered.

This link suggests deleting the update from the list of apps and forcing it to reinstall it, but no such update showed up in the list.

Can someone help me figure out why my ipad won't update to the latest iOS? Thanks!

It is not possible to upgrade the iPad Mini 2 beyond 12.5.7 as this device lost all support in March 2017.

You cannot install that app on this device. If you really want that app, you will need to buy a newer device that can support iOS 15.

The iPad Mini 6 starts with iOS 15 and continues to support iOS 17. It is the last iPad Mini to be made. So it will get updates for another year or two, before it loses support.

As far as I know, your iPad mini 2 can't get iOS 15 or any version later than iOS 12.5.7. Apple stopped providing major software updates for the iPad mini 2 back in September 2019. This means it doesn't have the necessary hardware capabilities to run newer versions of iOS, including features like improved performance, security enhancements, and new app functionalities.
