I have been using iTunes 6.0.4 without any problems.
Unfortunately I made the mistake of "upgrading" to iTunes 7 today.
It installed OK but when I ran it I was getting freeze ups and "Not Responding" messages.
So I removed the program and tried to install iTunes 6 again. I have the .exe files for two versions. 6.0.3 and 6.0.4.
I tried 6 times to install. After each " successful" installation, I tried to open iTunes.
"ITUNES has encountered an error and needs to close".
I removed and reinstalled many times and get the same error message when trying to open the program.
I finally gave up and redownloaded iTunes 7.
SAME PROBLEM! "ITUNES has encountered an error and needs to close."
I'm at a loss. I can't get any version to work.
I'm using a fully patched Windows XP SP2 machine with way more than the system requirements.
I disabled the antivirus and firewall. Still no good.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Joe:confused:

OK.
I found the fix. Thanks to Google.

Go to Apple and download Quicktime WITHOUT iTunes.
Install it and then run iTunes.
It seems like this problem has been going on since iTunes 5!!!!!
You'd think Apple would have gotten it right by now.
Or maybe not.
