I'm ripping a DVD in Handbrake, the aspect ratio is 720 x 576 and handbrake tells me the output aspect ratios will be 480 x 208. This gives large black bars at the top and bottom of the iPhone screen. I can use the zoom function on the iPhone to enlarge the image, but this obviously crops off a portion of the picture on either side.

Is this the best solution I can get or is there a smarter way to convert the aspect ratio to get the file to play in full screen mode on the iPhone without 'zooming'?

Thanks :)

I always recommend ripping movies in the aspect ratio they were recorded in, you really don't lose that much video when it is zoomed in. Cropping the video to fit the iPhone's screen will accomplish the same results of cutting off some of the video on the edges as the iPhones zoom feature does. The other method would require squishing the video to fit the screen which does not look good either. The best option is to live with the black bars or lose a little video with zoom.
