Is there any way to restore my iPod to factory settings?

I bought my iPod used, I dont even know what software version the previous owner installed.

Thanks for your help.

Yes you can...

Oh, you want to know how to do it. ;)

Simple, download the iPod Updater from Apple. If you have a 1st or 2nd gen iPod, you'll want version 1.3. If you have a 3rd gener, you want 2.0.1.

Install the appropriate updater on your PC. Then run it (Start>Programs>iPod>System Software>Updater or just Updater for 1.3). Connect our iPod and click on the "Restore" button.

Follow the prompts and you'll be all set.

2.0.1 is for the 3rd generation and like posted earlier all you have to do is run updated and everything will be reset to factory settings. If you are implying that you already have 2.0.1 ON the iPod...we are talking about having it ON your computer...

Thanks!

But what if I already have 2.0.1 on the iPod? Can I re-install it and restore it to factory fresh settings?
The restore ashawley described will reinstall 2.0.1 on your iPod, yes with factory settings.
