Cable Icon!! What does this mean? Help!

I recntly tried restoring my ipod, which seemed to go fine. The updater ran to the end of the program and it said connect to power source to complete restore. But instead of the mains icon you would normally get, i got an icon that looks like the end of the ipod cable which slots into the ipod to get it charging. What does this mean? I have a 3G Ipod and ive tried putting it into disk mode (holding menu/play, which seemed to do something, but then when i pressed next/previous nothing happened). Can you help me please? Thank you so much!!

Thanks for the reply. Ive actually tried charging it, left it on all day but nothings happening. When i try to reset it using menu and play it makes a sound which seems like it has reset it but then the apple sign comes on and the cable sign comes up again. any ideas? Thanks

I'd say contact Apple and send it for repair service and let them replace the iPod. If charging and restoring it doesn't help then it may be a damaged iPod and needs to be replaced. Maybe the HD has gone bad.

The same thing happened to me, i used the latest updater on my ipod mini 4GB, connect to mains icon came up but won't go away.
I connected it to mains, tried to connect to my pc.
still wouldn't change.
I then tried resetting the ipod with the middle/play button, now it is totally dead, no display at all.
I wish i never updated my ipod
Someone else up there must have had this problem?
