I dropped my 60gb iPod last Thursday and it refused to turn on properly - just displaying a white screen with some of the LCD showing as black and damaged in the bottom right hand corner. It also refuses to accept a connection to the computer when I plug it in, either via iTunes/Anapod or showing up as a disk. Resetting it makes no difference. It's well and truly shagged in other words.

As I have only had it since last November I called Apple and they have sent out the return package for a repair. What are the chances I will be charged for this when they get it? I didn't say in the fault description it was dropped and indicated it just happened. There is no obvious sign it has been dropped (cracks etc.) Also, what are the chances of it coming back with the data still on it?

Just wondered if someone else had a similar experience.

Thanks in advance.
