I have 32GB of lossless music currently on my external HDD. Now, I have gobs of space, that's not the problem, I just don't want to carry around those big files on my iPod, reducing battery life and increasing access times.

I've been trying to figure out a way to convert all those files (a little over 1300) to 192kbps AAC, but keep the lossless files on my harddrive, but not in my library folder (and subsequently in my library). IOW, I want to convert the lossless files to AAC (I know how to do this), then move all the original lossless files to a separate partition on my hard drive, keeping the new AAC files in their place.

Also, to those who rip in lossless then encode down to their currently preferred format, what is your procedure?
