Any Me First And The Gimme Gimme song or Anyway You Want it - Rise Against.

I also like hardcore covers of traditionally slow songs, they are all awesome.

I don't recall this being mentioned yet, (and I'm not about to backtrack through five pages), but I'm quite partial to the Red Hot Chili Peppers' cover of Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground.

John Denver's cover of Mother Nature's Son. (from Rocky Mountain High)

I'll admit, The Beatles' version isn't one of their best tracks, but Denver's voice and the tempo (which is quite a bit quicker than the original) just strips the song of the feeling it had when you hear Paul singing it.

For worst, I vote for "Comfortably Numb" as performed by Scissor Sisters. I like the Sisters, but that cover is horrific.

I have to agree with many that Hendrix's All Along The Watchtower is one of the best.

However, there are a few other good ones as well....

Sex Pistols - My Way.

Cake - I Will Survive.

I heard the worst cover ever in my entire life last month. I was at The Family Values Tour 2007 show in Albuquerque when Evanescence took the stage (they opened for Korn, the headliners). Evanescence played a cover of The Doors song "People Are Strange." The cover seemed forced, awkward, and she used a standard piano instead of a electronic organ or something similar to what The Doors would have used.

I have to say that they really butchered the song and no one in the audience was reacting positively. I don't really care for Evanescence but they really butchered that song. Korn's performance of "Another Brick In The Wall (Parts 1, 2, 3)" blew Evanescence out of the water. I don't know which band member of Evanescence decided to perform that song (probably Amy Lee) but they ruined it. I also felt the same way whenever they performed a cover of Korn's "Thoughtless" as it didn't sound right with female vocals.

Black Label Society - Whiter Shade of Pale (Procol Harum)
Not better but a good version of it none the less.

I like the Ataris - Boys of Summer

I really like the American series from Johnny Cash there were a number of good covers in there.

Thirteen - Danzig (J.Cash)

Four you Metal fans check out Children of Bodom's new release "Skeletons in the closet" (Cover album) ans look into Ten Masked Men

For fun albums check out a band called "Hayseed Dixie" bluegrass covers of AC/DC,Kiss,Led Zep there pretty good.

The Punk Goes albums are good for a few tunes each. The 80's.90's.and Metal are good and a Classic Roch is coming out soon.
