So, are there any others amongst us on the Lounge? By trader I am referring to someone that collects live audio shows.
Just for some background info, these shows were very popular in the 1970s and 80s, many people would go to a concert and hide audio recorders (such as a DAT Recorder) and secretly (or not secretly in the case of "The Grateful Dead", and "Phish") record the concert and put them on vinyl/CD. Many stores used to sell them in stores, but this has now become illegal.. Prior to the birth of broadband internet the main way of obtaining new material would be through a trading system. A show would be traded through the mail to someone else in return for another recorded show..
I have been collecting for a few months now and have a decent collection, perhaps 15GBs..? The main artist would be Led Zeppelin. Some others include Bob Dylan (he did a show 5 minutes from my house 12 years ago) and U2.. It is now becoming a bit of a hobby for me.. I burn my shows to CD-Rs, add the album art insert (which I find online, Zeppelin Art is a great place) and then when I am finished I put them in my CD shelf.. I know there are some very serious collectors out there. My friend who is a David Bowie freak has 140 Bowie shows on CD currently... So I was wondering if there were any of these serious collectors around here...
I'll get a list of my collection shortly and make a little webpage for the list... I am interested in some collections other Loungers have, so please share your list as well...
