Well I have been reading the Rock recommendation and indie threads an all, for that recent rock recommend thread it was more punkish and though im not totally clear on what I want lol, hopefully you can clear up what I like and recommend if you've got any suggestions. Im guessing I'll take most any rock, just not satanic death metal or overdone scream rock. Here's a sample of what I do enjoy.

Soundgarden
Audioslave
Pink Floyd
Deep Purple
R.E.M.
Beatles
Creed
Nirvana
Wilco
Shinedown
Pearl Jam
Lynard Skynard
Eric Clapton
Guns n roses
Oasis
Charlatans
(The british staples, The Kinks, etc..)
And a culmination of 90-2000's rock (Crossfade, Alter Bridge, 311, AFI, Goo Goo Dolls (i know they older :p) etc..)

I know I'm really all over the map here, and it can be tough to make any suggestions...I just like most all rock, if you can find somethings to recommend, not too much brit atm, though ill still take it (just my playlists have a lot of brit sounds n I wanna mix it up a little). If there's any grunge rock thats not too dark I wouldn't mind that.

P.S. If theres any classic rock anthem songs I'll be glad to hear names, sometimes I just cant find the name (i.e. Final countdown, Smoke on the water, etc..)

Check out Pandora. It gives eerily good suggestions based on your input.

Click "Close" and then on the next-track arrow to hear suggestions, after inputing a song title or band name.

I'm going to suggest some late 80s/early 90s alt-rock if you're interested in what grunge came from.

Pixies
Sonic Youth
Dinosaur Jr.
Meat Puppets
Pavement

Go for Rage Against The Machine (Audioslave's predecessor)
Silverchair might interest you in terms of grunge

Just in case for brit music:

The Stone Roses
Happy Mondays
The Smiths
Blur

PS - Ramones are from NY

You've got quite hard tastes to recommend to, (Good tastes, though!), but perhaps these bands might be worth trying:

The Go-Betweens --- This might be a good band for you... (Not Classic Rock)
Primal Scream --- I recommend these a lot, but these might suit your tastes... (Not Classic Rock)
Aerosmith --- You asked for Classic Rock, so this and the next few will be just that!
KISS --- Classic Rock, great for anthems!
AC/DC --- Classic Rock, again you might know some of their songs...
Van Halen --- Classic Rock, brilliant band, arena fillers!
Pink Floyd --- Classic Rock, what more can I say?
Status Quo --- Classic Rock, not so much anthems, but you might like them...
Queen --- Classic Rock, everything from anthems, arena fillers, to quiet ballads! Amazing band!
Alice Cooper --- A great shock-rocker, but Classic Rock really, he should suit your tastes well!
Rainbow --- Classic Rock, had some great songs!

Now, leaving Classic Rock...

Nine Black Alps --- A little grungy, this band could be perfect for you!
Guided By Voices --- Brilliant band in my opinion, and they could fit in there with your tastes...
Bloc Party --- For a little English stuff.
The Libertines --- Trying these out on you...
Babyshambles --- If you like The Libertines at all...
The Streets --- A little more English stuff...

Come back if you want any recommendations like any of these bands! :)

For Nirvana, why not try:

Foo Fighters
Jane's Addiction

Stone Temple Pilots
+ maybe even a bit of Red Hot Chili Peppers

Working on Charlatans, you could try:

Along the lines of The Kinks, Beatles, etc..

Bob Dylan
Johnny Cash
The Who
