if you're gonna buy a hard case, go with a18 or contour. They have been on the market for a couple of generations of the ipod. My brother has an A18 for his 4g and i now have one for my 5g and both of us love them. With the coupon floating around the forum, i decided that i am better off going with an A18. I guess that the power support cyrstal cases are supposed to be nice as well but i dont know anything about them.

I've owned both the Power Support Crystal Case and the Contour Design iSee and both have been beautiful cases.

I'm pretty new to iPods. I have one of the new 60gb video iPods and want to get soem sort of case for it, but am more interested in protection than looks. Just how much abuse will these cases take before the iPod is damaged?

iPods are not meant to be abused.

That said, the Contour Design Showcase is very protective and has cushioned a few inadvertant falls of the ipod to the floor on carpet. The iSee and the Agent 18 would probably be less protective and might break open. As long as the iPod is OK, the case has done it's job. No one can predict if damage to the iPod would occur. Contour Design will probably be a while before they have a Showcase for the 5G.

Power Support cases are great. I chose that over the Agent18 for my old 4G (still trying to sell that case off, BTW). I'm considering waiting for it to be released in the U.S. instead of going for the Agent18. The fact that it's completely clear versus mostly frosted (Agent18) is a huge plus for me.

I actually prefer the frosted look- less scratches/finger prints show up on the case that way.

That's the exact trade-off that I made when choosing the black iPod over the white. It looks better, IMO, but scratches and smudges show up a lot easier. That's the same with the A18 vs. Power Support issue. If I had a white iPod, I wouldn't mind the A18 as much as I do. But at this rate, I might just jump on the A18 before the coupon expires since I don't know when PS will have the Crystal Jacket in the U.S.

I prefer the frosted look of the Agent 18.

Of course, the plastic that protects the screen is very clear. But the frosted look over the white iPod looks awesome. It also covers up any minor scratches or fingerprints--making the iPod look like it is brand new.
