CLASSIC GEN 6 160GB IPOD CAN NO LONGER CONNECT WITH THE NEW APPLE CAR PLAY SYSTEM

The older Ford had a secondary interface that could communicate with iPods, as was popular in the mid 2010s. Most likely this was NOT using Car Play, but a direct iPod interface left over from previous models of the same vehicle. Since iPods became end of life (July 2017) then automotive...

CLASSIC GEN 6 160GB IPOD CAN NO LONGER CONNECT WITH THE NEW APPLE CAR PLAY SYSTEM

Car Play requires iOS. The iPod does not have that obviously. I found I can use lower capacity iPhones just fine with Car Play. I just rotate my music with iTunes on a weekly basis and use compressed audio (m4a/AAC). I also liked Bluetooth directly from the iPhone without Car Play, as Car...

No more smart playlists on iOS?

Confirmed. Smart playlist on iOS 17.1.1 are static until the next sync with iTunes. This ruins my pool lap swimming playlist as all the track will remain unchanged until the next sync, same with my car radio playlist, but in the car there are enough tracks I probably don't care. I won't buy...

No more smart playlists on iOS?

I am in process of upgrading an iPad for testing. I don't see complaints about missing smart playlists on Mac Rumors so I think they will still work. There are some caveats to smart playlists on devices. 1. The source data has to be on the device for the smart play list to truly work. This...

No more smart playlists on iOS?

So, syncing smart playlist to iOS 17 does not fix it? I am considering upgrading a device just to see this.

No more smart playlists on iOS?

The playlists being blank is a long term issue where occasionally, a smart playlist needs to be edited and saved to have content again. I see this every 3-5 years or so. I currently have dozens of smart playlists on iOS 16.7.2 on my iPhone. They continue to work. Another article on this from...

    iCloud Photos

The PC does not get My Photo Stream copies of the photos any more. As Apple shutdown that service earlier this year (see post above for an article on it). You would need a couple things to do what you are trying to do. Install iCloud for Windows: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204283 (I...

    iCloud Photos

Just in case you missed it: My Photo Stream was ended in June 2023, and all photos in iCloud in My Photo Stream were deleted in July 2023. (https://appleinsider.com/articles/23/05/26/apple-is-shutting-down-the-really-old-my-photo-stream-on-july-26) Shared Albums seem to still work fine. Are...

Will Apple store let you keep your old iphone so files and apps can be transferred and mail it in for the trade in credit?credit?

When I swapped an iPhone 11 for an iPhone 13, I had both in my possession to allow for the direct transfer. You have a limited time to get the old phone back to Apple, a week or a bit more if I remember correctly. You can (and should) backup the old phone with iTunes on a computer (Mac/PC), as...

    New itunes library

It is not that I am not willing to help, the tone was interpreted wrong. I was pointing out the effort already spent on this, so the same steps could be followed, but I would recommend using the USB drive to copy the iTunes folder from the old laptop to the new laptop as all the work that was...

    New itunes library

Of course the library is empty. I am pretty sure we did this before, and we really don't want to do all that work again. The easiest way is to migrate the library from the old laptop to the new one. You would need to copy the iTunes folder from the old laptop to the new laptop. Do you have...

Still Using My 2002 2nd gen 20GB iPod after 20 Years........

I still have my iPod Nano 3rd generation on my alarm clock. My wife still has her iPod Nano 6th generation on her alarm clock. I have several old devices around to test questions for people, including a 20GB iPod with Color Display (2005, broken headphone jack), iPod Nano 7th generation, iPad...

Can't get any voice memos to sync in either direction

OK, it looks like there is sort of support for voice memo syncing. Click on the device you are syncing (icon in the upper bar) Click on Music section in the left column under your device. Make sure Sync Music is checked (right column) If you have less music and voice memos in iTunes than the...

Can't get any voice memos to sync in either direction

I have not bothered to look for one as we stopped using voice memos. There is a bit of a discussion on this issue, and it apparently left with iOS 15. You can report this as a problem directly to Apple: Product Feedback There is apparently an option to use iCloud Music (a terrible option in...

Can't get any voice memos to sync in either direction

I see that I no longer get voice memos automatically when syncing and backing up now. I am guessing when they removed all the media types on the iPhone from being seen in iTunes, we lost the ability to back them up to iTunes. Kind of like ringtones. If I drag a voice memo and drop it onto the...

    ipone xr

You MUST restore your iPhone (and restore from a previous backup, if available) in the state where "iPhone is Disabled, connect to iTunes" is shown. There is NO WAY to get your data (since the backup) off of the phone in this state. If you don't have a previous backup, then it will revert to...

    Facebook messenger

I guess I need some clarification. When I installed and opened Facebook Messenger, the app automatically went to full screen. 1/3 is dedicated to contacts, 2/3 is dedicated to messages. If you tap the messages icon in the upper left of the 2/3s side of the screen, then the messages are full...

    Fitness Apps

I looked at a couple swimming apps, and decided based on reviews that the Apple version does as much as the free versions do, and maybe a bit better.

    Fitness Apps

I am not much of a runner, but I hike and swim. I see other apps out there, but have stuck with the Apple apps as they are good enough. There are probably better apps out there (Apple Open Swim seems broken as it can't determine distance or pace or even a path of the swim) but I haven't been...

Help with a smart playlist I'm making

Sounds about right. I have 24 nested playlists to make a better random radio station that changes with every sync. It is rare that I get the same artist 2 songs in a row, where Shuffle goes on artist streaks, or plays the exact same tracks if the playlist is started over.
