The DVD43 program seems to support 32-bit OS only which pretty clearly explains the error message (and vice versa lol )
The plug-in says it's for 64-bit systems, but I don't know what the plug-in does. If you don't have a regular, good backup routine for your music and media you will eventually lose it all. Hint: Using your iPod as your backup strategy is not a good plan. |

Is there another decoder that is compatible with Win 7? I have a long trip for Thanksgiving coming and I have 2 DVD's that I have yet to watch and the trip would do nicely with it taken up with two movies!
Thanks for any help! |

I am also trying to get the Handbrake/DVD43 combo working on my Win7 64-bit machine with no luck.
Apparently, DVD43 is not working (at leas now) with 64bit win7; got the error msg with install, but tried Handbrake anyway without success. I tried installing the DVD43 plug-in (which does appear to install OK), but Handbrake would not recognize the DVD in the drive with this plug-in. Sounds like the plug-in is a new thing, so Handbrake may eventually be able to use it. Any suggestions? I own a copy of Xilisoft that works very nice for a number of jobs; but can't find anyway for it to rip DVDs & include the 5.1 audio with the rip. I understand that Handbrake can do this, but appears that DVD43 hasn't quite caught up with Win7. I've been using DVDFab on Win7-64 without issue. I *think* the trial lets you decrypt indefinitely, just doesn't let you burn or use any of the advanced options, which is fine for using in combination with Handbrake.

Ah, yes, the decryption portion is free, in fact I just found they have a dedicated decrypter here: DVDFab HD Decrypter. Free to Decrypt DVD and Blu-ray, free to Copy DVD and Blu-ray.

Very cool. Downloading now, will try it out (as soon as the wife gives up the Desktop
![]() ![]() I'll try the DVDFab decrypter w/Handbrake & see how it goes.... As another note, just finished successfully installing DVD43 on my Win 7 (32-bit) netbook. However, when I tried to run Handbrake, got an error message that my screen resolution is not high enough (need 1024x620 for Handbrake, my max is 1024 x 600).....argh! ....excellent....much thanks.
Ran DVDFab; inserted The Last Waltz; it "scanned" the DVD. Handbrake is running now with a default ATV preset. Will have to experiment with some audio settings next. Gotta love iLounge forums....thanks for the info. Win7/28162 songs/3244 Artists/2713 Albums -- 160Gb Classic/2G ATV What's so great about the Barrier Reef? What's so fine about Art?
