Handbrake --> Just audio (mp3/m4a etc)?

Can handbrake be used to rip only the sound from a DVD into an audio format rather than a video format?

Vlc?

I could not get handbrake to do that, so I used VLC instead. Version 0.8.6b has a Streaming/Exporting Wizard that lets you save audio-only.

I just use DVDShrink in combination with Super (by erightsoft) for that. I take the chapter or chapters from the DVD I want to rip in DVDShrink, and can select the audio. For instance, if a DVD concert has PCM Audio and AC-3 Audio, I'll select only the PCM (lossless) audio. I do each chapter on it's own so I can end up with individual tracks (they'll playback gapless too). Then, I'll run all the VOB files through Super to extract the PCM audio and convert to WAV. Then I'll convert the WAV's to Apple Lossless, tag them for archiving, then convert them to mp3 for portable listening. Quick, painless, and effective.
