Have you tried resetting the iPod or putting it in disk mode first? What OS are you using? Did you set the sync options under the tabs for photos & movies?

I just downloaded a movie rental off iTunes last night, and it won't synch it to my iPod; it doesn't even show up in the "Movies" tab. Also, I downloaded some "freebies" from iTunes: a TV show, a music video and a photo, as well as importing some of my own photos, and ALL of those synched in just fine. I have an 80GB Video iPod. Any tips? Thanks!

Go to the movie tab while the iPod is connected and move the movie to the iPod & then click "apply". The rental will transfer then. Movies will only transfer to the current iPods - classic iPod, 3rd gen Nano, touch & iPhone. If you have a previous gen iPod the rentals will not be available for transfer.

I've got the same problem as rwelty above ie:

I just downloaded a movie rental off iTunes last night, and it won't synch it to my iPod

honeybee's solution doesn't apply as
the rented movie doesn't appear in the movies Tab on my iopd when it's connected to the computer.
I have a newish ipod and tv shows transfer and play just fine, this is the first time i've tried to transfer a rented movie.

Thanks.

Do you have a "Rented Movies" section listed under the iPod's Movies tab in iTunes with the iPod connected?

^ Thanks.

no, it doesn't give me that option in the drop down box.

(I have version 1.3 software on the ipod).

The guy I emailed at the itunes store helpdesk gave me my money back so I've rented another movie but still have the same problem

Note that only the Classic, Touch and iPhone can sync Rented movies.

If kavah has version 1.3 software I think this correlates to the 5G or 5.5G iPod which can not play rented movies.

Right you are stu, I just connected the 5G iPod with 1.3 software and there is no Rented Movies section on the sync tab.

Well if you need an excuse, this is a good one! If you want the full use of the new movie rentals, you'll need to upgrade.

Good luck.
