Can't get movies to transfer to the iPod

I know I'm not alone...others are having the same issue but we need someone to help...please.
I have some movies in my library right now.
They play in iTunes and everything but I can't get them to transfer to the iPod. I've tried everything including draging them to my iPod...nothing happens.
Also, in my Preferences folder, when I go to iPod -> Videos, nothing is clickable, it's all gray.
What am I supposed to do!?

Welcome to iLounge,

Check the video file and find out if it is compatible with the iPod. iTunes is compatible with multiple Quicktime compatible formats while the iPod is only good with a few.

The files need to be of certain type, maximum bitrate, etc.

You likely will need to convert the video files. See the stickies for guides on converting videos.

Should be working?

I already converted the video to mpeg-4. Also, iTunes tells me the selection is already in the correct format?

What version of iTunes are you using? If your auto sync'ing then set it to sync selected movies by checking the box:
Sync movies>selected and then you can select the movies you want to transfer.

In addition what are the bitrate, etc for the movie files. Not all MP4s are created equal. You haven't mentioned any errors yet during your syncing... Are you getting any error messages?

When I first got my video iPod I was missing compatible videos from the iPod because it was set to sync "unwatched" video's only in the movies and TV shows tabs. So as Audrey suggests check your sync settings are you syncing all, five recent, unwatched, etc.

iTunes 6.0.5.20
I've tried both auto-syncing and manual. The challenge here is that in my Preferences folder, when I go to iPod -> Videos, nothing is clickable, it's all gray:
