iPod nano 2nd gen 4gb, but black?

I have somehow stumbled upon my old ipod, and it i have realised that, even though it is a 4gb model, that its color is black. The parts have never been changed, but it is black. Is it rare? Can somebody explain please, thanks!

This is one of the iPod Nano models available at the time. I doubt it is rare.
