iPod Could Not Be Identified

I have two Nanos and both of them are suddenly throwing this message at me when I connect them. I've tried reinstalling iTunes and that doesn't fix the problem. Anyone have any advice?

The instructions are not quite complete.

You need to uninstall iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Mobile Device Service, iPod Helper Service and any other Apple software you have installed. Then reboot. Then install iTunes.

This will tell you not to use USB hubs, try different cables, different ports, etc. All good suggestions.
