what do you do with the ipod?
This may be a silly question, but I was just wondering what those who have ipods mounted in their cars do with their pods when you arrive wherever you're going- like to the store or whatever. Do you just leave the pod in the car? I'd think it would get cumbersome to keep taking it in and out of the car, but I'd be afraid it might get stolen if left in the car for an extended period. Thanks!

Well I usually grab it and plug my buds in and off I go. However if not it fits with suprising ease into any small space like my center console or glove box.

thanks for your response. If I do, say, stash it in the glove box, should I be at all concerned about the effects of extreme temperatures? I live in Arizona where it is like 110 degrees outside, and get even hotter inside a parked car!!
I'd like to take my pod with me for listening in the car, but sometimes it wouldn't be necessary or convenient to carry it when I arrive. |

I leave it in my car's mount at school, as i usually get the nicer parking spots which are shaded, and in winter its cold anyway. Sometimes if i know ill have a lot of free time i take it with me

Alright an Arizonan!
I hail from Mesa by the way. Being from AZ I know the heat can be killer in a car however I read the article on the guy who is using his Ipod in Iraq. His Ipod had no problem lasting all day in 120+. So just use good judgement. If your going to be gone for several hours try to take it with you. However It can probaly take a few hours. Taskman |

Hey taskman, katgirl!
I'm in Gilbert!! This is spiffy. We should have an East Valley iPod user group. Dont know what for, but hey! ;-) Anyway... I would never leave my ipod in the car. Not here in az. Last edited by jerrodh; 08-20-2003 at 03:10 AM. |

i'm in phoenix and in no way would I even consider putting my iPod in the car for any extended time in the heat. This is a expensive toy that is small enough to carry so I wouldn't even risk putting in the glovebox or what not. that's just insanity, imho

Well its obvious where the majority of Ipod users live
For the record I dont currently live in AZ I'm in Atlanta, GA which doesnt compare to the valley of the sun but at least its not filled with snow birds. However I was in AZ until I was 17. Dont know where your hitting school Azdude but I went to Highland Highschool in Gilbert. Taskman |

thanks everyone for your replies! and i'm glad to know i'm not the only ipodder in AZ!!!
I'm in N. Scottsdale...Anyway, I guess I'll just stick to taking the pod out of the car with me... at least until it starts cooling off a bit. I wouldn't want a melted pod!!

I also have concerns about heat, though, living in the very-humid land of Nebraska summers!

I only leave my iPod in my car if I know I will be gone in only a few minutes. Otherwise, I either cover it up or take the iPod with me.
