I have the red version of this case which I actually use for my camera and not my ipod but it's fine, there's a small slip for earplugs in front and it can be velcroed onto a bag strap which is quite practical.
It does fine protecting my camera
get an iskin i have one for my 20gig and it fits fine.
I think it looks pretty ugly...
Thanks...I'm not a fan of iSkin now, not b/c it didn't fit the photo, but I just plain didn't like it. It was hard to get out of my pocket and always had cat hairs and lint on it.
not very attractive or good for the iPod...
I'm not so concerned about what it looks like (as far as PDA-like, or bulky as long as it's not ginormous) as much as protection of my iPod. I can be clumsy at times and just randomly drop things, as well as forgetting it's in my bag or something. I want something bulky enough to protect it entirely. iSkins just don't cut it for me.
Anyone have suggestions for leather/nylon/etc cases that aren't iSkin-esque that are less than 30 bucks or so?
That'd be great. Thanks for the feedback!
less than 30 bucks is difficult to get the protection which I suspect you want - I have a waterfield ipod case which costs a bit more (http://www.sfbags.com/products/ipodcase/ipod.htm) but I'd definitely recommend it.
Nice case...
Love it but I don't think I could afford it at the moment...and won't be able to for some time, seeing as I have no steady income...
heheh! I just want a case where I can take it somewhere without worrying about killing it. Any case not kin to iSkin is okay by me...Any other suggestions?
Wait, does this one have a hole 4 the click wheel?
The Timbuk2 one? No, all the iPod surfaces are covered. I don't mind not having access to the clickwheel, tho.
I also liked the case on that link. Gorgeous, but too pricey for me.
I saw one of these at the Apple store and I might get it. Its Timbuk2, so its built tough. It has huge velcro binds on the back to attach to the wide straps on a messenger bag...it could be used for a belt as well, but you'd better plan on taking your belt off to remove it (the velcro is HUGE). It would attach to your belt sideways if you used it for that.
Since its cloth, you can fast forward & pause with it in the container; I've tested this. That's all I need most of the time.
I have both a Timbuk2 and an iSkin, and I prefer the iSkin because of the access to the click wheel. However, if you don't mind not having access to the wheel, then I completely recommend the Timbuk2 case. It is well padded, encompassing, and straps onto a Timbuk2 messenger bag really well.
Awesome! Thanks, guys, I appreciate the feedback!
i have the black timbuk2 case attached to my messanger bag. i have no complaints about it whatsoever because it serves the purpose that it states that it does. the lining is pretty soft and plushy. i have dropped the ipod in the case quite a few times and everything has been fine. also, it stays on the bag or whereever you put it fantastically because the velcro on it is quite big and powerful. i recommend it highly if this is the type of case that you'd like to get.
It sounds awesome, but I don't have the said messenger bag, and while the velcro sounds like it would attach to a few bags I do have, I want to know exactly HOW thick it is, because someone else told me it is VERY thick but anyway, it sounds like it would serve its purpose (to protect!!
) So thanks!

I bought an iSkin for my 40gig iPod photo and it didn't really fit too well even tho they were advertised as being able to fit any "40 iPod or iPod photo".
So that sucks. Anyway, I am going to get a 20 gig instead (don't think I'm crazy, read my post in iPod Stories forum before freaking out) and I now need a new case, seeing as the iSkin will be too big anyway. I was interested in the Timbuk2 cases and wondered if anyone here has one because I want their personal opinion. I found it in the iPodlounge reviews and kinda liked it.

I don't care about access to the wheel or screen, or connecting to the dock without taking it out of the case, so with that info, is this a good case for me? I just want something sturdy that will protect my iPod.
If you don't have one but want to give your opinion on wether it would work or not for me, here's what it is: Timbuk2 Cases
