The 10GB ipod comes with a 6pin firewire (with a 4pin adapter if you need it), the plug in charger, mmjb software (worthless, IMHO, there are much better applications), a dysfunctional carrying case, the remote (which I like), the Apple earbuds (very good, but I like my sony EX70's better), and an ugly storage bag, as well as the 10 gigger itself--one kick ### mp3 player...
You need the firewire cable to synch--you're computer must have a firewire card (instead of USB) to synch--you can get a good one for about thirty dollars. The four pin adapter is necessary only if you have a 4 pin (unpowered) versus 6 pin (powered, and highly recommended) firewire card on your computer. With regard to how much is the 4-pin adapter worth, I think it's worth oh, about nothing to me, as I don't need it...Now, if you're planning on selling it, you might be able to get a chewed piece of gum for it...
thanks calvin!

IS the only thing extra, the software and the 4 to 6 FW adaptor? What is that for, and what is it worth?
