I fully drained my 10 gig old ipod until it would not work anymore. I then put it on charge on the wall socket and let it sit. 3 hours later i came back and the thing said FULLY CHARGED. Just out of curiosity i then unplugged it and plugged it back in. It started charging again, and has been for 2 hours and 15 mins! I installed the new 1.3 firmware on it and also think its reading my available space wrong to. I have 1156 songs on it and it says i have 6 gb avaible. Whats going on?

Here is an update!. In my last post i put my ipod in for charge at 4. The battery was completely drained. At 7 it said completely charged. I immediately unplugged and plugged back in. Now its 10 and it says charged. WTF? Is my ipod not going by battery capacity but by just 3 hours?

Since the iPod's battery needs no "controls" to prevent it from overcharging (it simply stops accepting a charge when it's full), there's really no need for the meter to determine how long to charge it.

So, the conventional wisdom is that the iPod's "charging" indicator is just a 3 or 4 hour timer that comes on. When it says "Charged" and you reconnected the iPod to the AC adaptor, it will "charge" the iPod for another 3-4 hours.

Nothing to worry about, things are working as the should in your case.
