Check with Auto Toys . They sell all sorts of adapter to connect MP3's and mini discs to car stereos. I have an AUdi and used a Blitzsafe adapter to connect my iPod to my stock Symphony II stereo.
hate to say this, but the only way you can get the sound into your head unit is with a fm transmitter/modulator. alpine does have adapters that allow you to convert your cd bus into an aux input. however, it's only possible if your head unit is "versatile link" ready.
what is versatile link?
i already ordered a logjam p.i.e. ai-net to rca adapter cord. Why will this not work?
well i already paid for it so i think that not accepting the package won't do much.
i already tried crutchfield and they knew nothing about my HU because it was too old. wasn't in their database.
well i'm ####ed now. i've been looking forward to this and thought i finally figured it out. so there are ai-net head units that aren't versatile link ready? cuz mine is ai-net capable.
so unless i buy a new head unit i'm stuck with fm modulater?
looks like your best bet would be to ebay it. yes, older alpine units are not versatile link ready. they can only use a cd-changer and not the optional aux cable. anways, i too am stuck with a fm modulator for now.
Check http://www.logjamelectronics.com/. They have several auxiliary convertors car audio/video, auxiliary input convertors.
yeah logjamelectronics is where I got mine. And mine is ai-net not m bus. so i'm thinking that it might work.
boister: ebay it for what?
i meant to ebay the cable since it wasn't going to work. however, i really don't know what to say anymore. on the crutchfield website, it says both the alpine ai-net and m-bus cable only work with versatile link ready units. hopefully the aftermarket cable found a way to make them work with older units. if it works out for you, let me know so i can give it one last try.
check out the info on the crutchfield site
ai-net to rca
m-bus to rca
ok.
it doesn't work.
i tried it with newer alpine units and it does work.
i think there may be a way that you can get some KCM blah blah or something cord, but I quit.
I'm just buying an alpine cda-7893.
I have the Alpine CDA D857 will that wire work with it Its Ai-Net cd changer
Where do you people get your info???
Alpine CDA-7837 (notice the A in CDA!) contains a Ai-Net socket, it's to the left of the power/speaker socket. Go get a Ai-Net to RCA socket cable for $20 and a Monster iPod cable (RCA to 1/8inch) and your done.

I have an aftermarket alpine Head Unit cda-7837.
It has no auxiliary outs.
It does have CD changer control.
I want to be able to mount the iPod in my car.
I want to be able to charge the iPod in my car.
I want to be able to play the iPod in my car without a cassette adapter or FM transmitter.
Someone told me that there would be no adapter that would go in the changer port and make it an aux port because one is a line in and one is a line out.
I have seen this adapter however so he is wrong, correct?
The way I see it, what I need is the adapter (changer to rca cord). then an rca cord to 3.5mm mini cord. then that cord goes into the headphone jack of the iPod. then I mount it in a Transpod 2 which serves as a holder as well as a charger because it plugs into the cigarette lighter.
Is it a problem with the Transpod 2 that I will not be using its cassette adapter or its line out. The only reason that I would think that it would be is because the way that the Transpod 2 holds the ipod, it covers the top of the ipod and makes a connection with the firewire port and I think the headphone port. So then I would think that that wouldn't work. So is there another dock that holds the iPod and charges it at the same time?
Thanks
