Case for jogging?

I was surprised (totally stunned, actually) to get an iPod mini for my 30th birthday yesterday.

I plan to use it mostly for jogging and the gym, and I want to use a silicone-type sleeve to keep it safe from drops and scratches. (I think the leather and neoprene type cases with clear plastic windows are ugly - they look like the annoying kind of old-fashioned cell phone case).

The armband seems like a really cool idea, but it's not compatible with cases of course.

The jamjacket pro comes with an armband, but I haven't heard or seen reviews as to whether or not it works well, is comfortable, etc. Can anyone vouch for the jam jacket pro's usefulness for jogging?

I'm also tempted to try buying an iSkin, removing the belt clip, cutting two slits for an armband, reinforcing around the slits with epoxied fabric so they don't tear, and running an armband through that. Any thoughts on that approach?

(Mostly I consider the iSkin because so many people here are drooling over it. That means it must be good, right? It does have fun colors, at least. What could be cooler than a bright purple condom for my iPod mini?)

Thanks,
Ev

I have the Jam Jacket Pro (clear) and am using it with the optional wristband (gold to match my mini). I have long/skinny arms, so the armband is way too big for me.

So far, the setup has been very comfortable and very stable. I had to play around with positioning some, but have settled on strapping the pod on my left wrist above my watch. It seems most comfortable when it's on the inside, but I think that's personal preference and not dictated by the setup.

Only gotcha on the Jam Jacket is the screen protector. The material attracts every particle of dust within a 20 mile range of the cover, so it looks dirty very quickly. Posters who have the Jam Jacket for their regular ipods report cutting out the DLO screen protector and replacing with standard PDA cover material (the static activated kind). I'll probably do that as well.

I'll probably buy another cover (exo3mini or iskin) so I can use a lanyard, but the Jam Jacket Pro is fine for what I got it for.

I use the armband without the case. I have ran miles and miles with the mini in the armband. Never once has the mini fell out of that clip. I use the belt clip for working out and never once has the mini slipped out of the belt clip either. My workout shirt is long enough to go over my mini when I work out, so I don't have to worry about anything scratching it up. Unless you are planning to do some pretty crazy stuff like power cleans or any olympic lifts...you don't really need a case for it for what you're planning to do with your mini.

maybe you should check out www.marware.com it seems like they have addressed some of these workout issues with their sportsuit convertible and runabout

Just got the Arm Band today. It's smaller than I expected from the pictures! That's a good thing though.

Hey,

Have any of you tried this product from tunebelt?

I've been using it with my Rio Nitrus, and it works great. (I'm waiting on a Silver Mini.)
