Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4vi for iPhone
I saw this from Apple Store today.
Does anyone have more information about this product? I think the sound quality would be as good as any other UE product, but I don't know if it has a button for talk, pause, skip, etc. |

4vi
yeah they are not on the website yet - but they are in store - very unapple
bass is quiet full IMO - on par w vmoda - but overall they are much more detailed and crisper, they sound cleaner - vmodas seem to be muffled and sound "cheap" compared to the 4vi |

The UE Super.fi 4vi's are a good pair. I don't know if they are worth the $150 though. I think they are more in line with the $100 price point. The ER-6i's from Etymotic Research has a crisper sound but they lack bass. The UE's has bass but it's a relatively mild bass so if you're looking for the thumps you get from Shure's or vModa's then you will not find it here. Overall it feels like you're paying $100 for a good set of in-ears plus the extra $50 is tacked on for the in-line microphone (which I must say, the mic is very very very good, crisp and loud) and the integrated button. The integrated button needs to be broken in a bit as you will surely be extremely annoyed with it in the beginning. I've had my pair for over a week now. The carrying case is rubbish compared to what the other Super.fi's comes with. There is also no cleaning tool which is extremely odd since I believe all the other UE's comes with them. No foam eartips are included in the package but the silicone tips are good enough.

Wow!
I went to the store on the last day of the $100 iPhone credit with intention to purchase vmoda's even though some of the reviews suggested that they are not a great set of phones with mic. I have been surfing UE site since I got the phone. Well to my surprise the 4vi's were at the Apple store Old Orchard, Skokie IL. I bought the UE's due to the company gets great reviews on all their products. I am very happy with the 4vi's. The only negative is that they are not really wrap around ear style like most of UE's product line. If I wrap the soft cord around my ear the mic would be in the wrong spot for talking. UE does recommend wrapping around ears for working out. The sound is awesome. I have never owned a pair of buds that cost more than $40.00. But compared to the in ear sony's I used with my iPod's the UE's rock. Bass is great. Treble is crisp. I was able to hear some stuff in a Beck song today that I never noticed before. They are a little expensive but I imagine they will come down in price after the new year. Highly recommend these. |

i have been listening back to back to the 4vi, vmoda and qjay
im using the splitter that came w the qjays, great for comparing headsets vmoda to me sound jsut very muffled, like having a blanket over the head or when i have the flu and my headd is stuffy, yeah they have a lot of bass but the bass has no definition, vocals especially sound very "canned" the 4vi & the qjay VERY comparable - that said the qjay's low and hihgs seems very polarized, seems like the middle is missing superfi is very clear and balanced, perfect size to - the qjays are tiny and look a bit cheap compared to the 4vi metal housing |
