Looks like this was just released, downloading now.

The changelist just says "bug fixes". Any list of exactly what is changed?

bonobaltimore

Interesting...just installed the update. Already noticing a lot of the same bugs. When I hold menu and the center button, it resets my main menu preferences.

Where can I find this update? I checked the website and
I tunes and could not locate it.
Can you please send me the URL?

Thanks

bonobaltimore

Plug your iPod into iTunes and, on the main screen, click on the 'check for update' button.

I'm downloading it right now. Pretty hefty file. 56.6 meg.

Yeah leave it to apple to be as vague as possible on bug fixes...they USED to list what the updates fixed but it seems they are too lazy to do that.

Surf Monkey

I find that frustrating too. It's a newish deal with Apple and it's not cool.

bonobaltimore

Yeah, they've been rufflin' a lot of feathers recently...

50+MB is a very big file!

I'm downloading it now - hoping it will fix the problem of having music notes instead of Album Artwork on the Now Playing screen sometimes.

Surf Monkey

Wow! W A Y faster to browse the menus now. Fantastic!!

paranoidxe

How's Coverflow? Pretty fast response time really...what has it been 2 weeks since they've been out? About a week since they've actually been on people's hands.

mols001

Do you think this update will help with accessories, ie: camera connector, av cables?
Please post if anyone finds out. I am at work and cannot sync my ipod till later
this evening.

paranoidxe

I doubt it, there is actually a hardware chip in the new iPods that prevent these "unauthorized" accessories from working.

Surf Monkey

Cover Flow is working a lot faster on my 160 gig. It's not accessing the disc nearly as much. It takes a couple seconds for the ap to boot when you first click to it but once you're in Cover Flow mode, it cooks right along. You can get out ahead of where it's cached images but all you have to do is stop for a second and it catches up almost instantly. That's far better than what I was seeing before.

Surf Monkey

Actually, it's the other way around. The iPod looks for an Apple authorization chip in the external device - and it's my understanding that this only impacts the video output through the headphone jack. As far as audio compatibility with various external devices, I only use one speaker system outside of my home theater and I've never had a compatibility issue with it so I wouldn't be able to say if the update changes any of that.
