Aftermarket memory upgrade?
We'll have to wait until someone cracks one open, but it's quite possible Apple have designed a PCB with the positions ready to accept more memory chips when the price comes down.
That opens the possibiliy of after market upgrades - at a price ;-) Of course Apple may not have done this to deliberately stop such activity, and will 're-spin' the PCB's when they need to... |

If the iPod Touch was SSD based memory could have been a possibility but the memory chips are integrated into the main board which makes the whole thing almost impossible for most geeks.

Nooo. Not socketed. Just the tracks/pads on the PCB. The components are very likely surface mounted anyway, and it will be a fiddly (read expensive) job to retrofit more...
[edit] Posting lag. The comment above may well make this impractical anyway [/edit] |
