What New iPod To Get?
Hi!
I have seen all the new iPods and they look great. I currently own a 1st Gen 2GB iPod Nano and a 30GB 5.5 Gen iPod video, which I plan to sell to iPodResQ for a combined total of $155 to use twoards a new iPod. The problem is which one? First some user statistics, I have encoded lots of video, to the point where one movie for me takes up a little over one gigabyte. However, I have found myself hardly watching movies on my iPod, so I have only one or two movies on it at a time which I still don't watch. Additionally, I have around 13 gigs of music. It used to be around 18 gigs, but I cut it down recently because I don't listen to all of it. I still don't listen to 13 gigs of music. The problem is, which iPod to get? -The 80GB iPod Classic: This looks like a great upgrade to me-53GB (formatted) more space and a completely new UI and 30 freaking hours of battery life. It isn't full-body aluninum as I was hoping, but it's half-way there. ![]() -The 8 GB iPod Touch: Wow. This is simply beautiful-can't wait for it to get hacked also. I have been wanting a touch-screen iPod for the last two years. But, come on-only 8 GBs? I could live with it, but I don't know. It also would be cool many years from now to say I was one of the first to own this new technology. Also, as a side note, the 16 GB model is not an option=too expensive as I am saving up for a car. ![]() So, in conculsion, which one would be better for me to get? A completely new iPod with somewhat of a downgrade in storage-or a upgrade in space and UI? A cost breakdown shows approximately how much I would spend depending on the model upgrade I choose: -iPod Classic (80GB): $95 -iPod Touch (8 GB): $145 Thanks!

8GB iPod Touch for me! (Unless my kind and loving parents want to donate a hundred bucks to my cause...)

Going from an iPod G5 and a Nano, to a 8GB iPod touch is IMO a terrible deal. I would never do that, especially if I'm used several GBs of storage. Worst downgrade possible.
Here are the options: *Stick with what you have, save up and buy a iPod touch 16GB or 32GB next year. or *save up a little extra cash quickly and buy a 16GB iPod touch. Last edited by homeboy; 09-05-2007 at 09:18 PM. |
