I was really looking forward to the announcement of the new iPod today. Everything was looking REALLY good, it looks great, the wifi is cool, but then the storage capacities were announced and I was disappointed. 16gb is not enough for me to replace my current 60gb 5G. is it for you?

AmazingDM

Heeeeelllll no

derring do

I would guess they're not really intended to replace bigger ones yet. This looks like a trial balloon to me... is it all flash memory in the Touch? This allows them to get the WiFi out there, and drive it around for a while. Like the iPhone, I'll let this one go.

The classic in silver, with an 80 or 160gb drive, however, is infinitely attractive.

Not for a moment...

At this point, the Touch is a non-starter for me. I already have an iPhone, so the only benefit the Touch offers is potentially-increased capacity. However, the increased capacity is insufficient, and therefore I'm going to need to either keep my 5.5G or get an iPod Classic. At that point, there's really no point in a 16GB model.

if i dont get an iphone, Ill get this... wide screen, wifi wonderfullness...

if only the iphone was 16gb...

No iPhone here yet and I seriously doubt if I will take one one with the possible UK costs attached to it. But an iPod with a Safari browser just for the odd occasion I want to surf the net? That might do it - but 16GB will not replace my 60gb even if it is only 2/3 full......

Uriel0922

its way to small for my taste I wont be getting one till its 60 gigs or more.

Mightion

I don't have an iPhone, and I'm only using 6.1 gb of the 8 gb on my red Nano, so the iPod Touch does look attractive to me, if I was in the market for a new iPod.

Yes, compared to a hard-drive based iPod, 16gb could be considered "not enough"... but for us Nano owners (or mini); 16 gb is a definite upgrade, even without the WiFi candy.

Thumbs up from me.

I would have honestly settled for a 16gb iPhone as the added benefits of EDGE internet and phone capabilities make up for the loss in storage, but for an IPOD as a standalone music/photo/video player it's just not enough.

Meh. I had high expectations for Apple with the iPod Touch and when I read that it only had a storage capacity of 8/16GB, it all went out the window. I'll be happy with my 160GB iPod Classic, thank you.

Well I have about 60gb worth of music so 16gb isn't enough or I'm wondering maybe it is.....

I almost exclusively listen to music through a series of Smart Playlists so I really only listen to a relatively small playlist at any one time. How will smart playlists work on the Touch. I had read that you cannot use these on the Iphone. Is this true? I could set up some feeder pool playlists for the spl to pull from but still would be a relatively small sample of the overall library. My point is that I hardly ever just get the whim to listen to a specific track from my collection.

Also, how easy is it to rate songs on the IPhone interface as I like to be able to do this easiliy. I would love to see the Now Playing screen for both the touch and the classic.

Andysmind

There's no way i'd replace my 80GB with a 16GB iPod. I was hoping for large capacity and a bigger screen because i watch a lot of tv shows on my ipod so there's no way i'll be buying one.

AHHHHHHH

Lol, only one vote for yes

homeboy

16GB isn't even enough to accommodate my music. Heck I also have several videos to fill that device up with.

I'm going to be picking up an black iPod Classic 80GB and buy an iPod touch with 32GB or 64GB in a year or so.

honeybee1236

Definitely NO. If it had the 160GB HD then yes I would buy it but I have an iPhone I can use but I will get the 160GB Classic. My 80GB is full now. The videos & concerts take a up a lot of room.
