1) They're Phillips, not Panasonic
2) No they don't isolate like the Shure or Etymotic - which provide near total isolation, which can be dangerous - but they do isolate like the Sony EX71 series.
If you want a good headphone with some isolation, then these are (in my humble opinion) the best low cost options
Cheap: Sennheiser CX 300 (£31.95)

Inexpensive, but not cheap: Panasonic RP HJE70 (£45.25)

Good value: Audio Technica ATH CK7 ($115)

All of these equal, or are superior to, the Shure E2/3, Etymotic ER6 or Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 3.
I changed CX300s from MX550s. The sound quality is incredible, the detail is much better! "I love 'em!"

these retail at £30 nd they say they are noise isolating and give superb sound quailty plus they go deep in your ear. what with the shure e2c being around £70 i take they are not as good as them but do they still isolate sound like the shure earphones do?
