Sneaky Audible (new website)

I am a long-term member of Audible. I used to have an Ultimate Listener subscription but it lapsed earlier in 2005.

Since the new website launched, I took another look. One thing I liked was the new ability to Cancel an AudibleListener subscription, on the website (being in the UK, it isn't practical to ring and talk to Customer Services).

Anyway, confident that I could now easily cancel whenever I wanted to; I signed up for a monthly Platinum AudibleListener subscription.

Now, I am annoyed to find that the option to Cancel HAS VANISHED from MyAccount details page. It seems to me that this is a bit dishonest, though it could be a website problem since the site is still beta.

What do others think?

I think you need to look again ;-)

The cancel link is in the upper right portion of the Account Details page.

When all else fails, try the help section. enter cancel and its the first thing that comes up.

Being in the UK I used to use audible.com quite often, it was one of the few places where I could read customer reviews of audiobooks and it was a good information source. Seems like I can't do that no more, to browse the library you now have to be logged in, what a crock!.

Sorry, but there is no Cancel Link on my Account Details page. I have an underlined link "Change Membership Plan" but that's all. The Cancel link used to be next to this exactly as shown in the Help document you refer to, which I already had checked.

Have you tried emptying your browser cache and cookies and logging in again? You may be looking at an older cached copy of the page?

In anycase, I can't think of any other reason why the link would be there for you and not me - unless they are making it harder for UK & International members to cancel.

When I queried the missing link with Customer Service Staff they said "Contact Customer Services" (by phone)

To browse the (US) Audible site without logging in, click on the Site Map link (in very small letters) to the right at the bottom of the page. Very annoying, but this works. One change in the beta version site is that you can't see how many votes went into the average ratings, although you can read individual reviews and see the ratings given by each reviewer On the UK Audible site, you should be able to click "Browse Audio", and then click on "Advanced Search" to get into the old-style pages.

Maybe the cancel link is only there if you are a Platinum Yearly member? I agree that the cancel link was there a little over a week ago. I don't see it there now, so it doesn't seem to matter whether you are a US or UK member. Help information does say that your account details should bring up three links: Change Membership Plan, Cancel Membership Plan, and Fulfill Commitment. But like nrmsmith, I only see "Change Membership Plan".

Okay, yeah that is weird. My browser cache is clean so that isn't it. And the funny thing is, I'm on the UltmateListener plan and have no credits left so there is really nothing for me to cancel.

Anyhoo. their Help Section shows how its supposed to work and their website is currently a work in progress so I imagine they'll get it straight before long.
