Does anyone know if the string on the shuffle sport case is removable? I love the design and durability, as I will need it for my landscaping job, to ensure the dirt sand and dust does not come into contact with it, but the string will be just and inconvenience to me.

Not removable unless you cut it off.

Yes. It's removable. You just need a special product, from apple, called iScissors.

I would suggest getting the new case by otterbox, it comes with a cord that is detachable, in fact it isn't connected when it is shipped.
