They migth not fit very well but the sound quality is really high end! Even though the new one has some bugs I'm loving it more and more every day.

Great that you're satisfied with the sound quality! It is intersting, many audiophiles and avid iPod listeners (like myself) find the Apple earphones fairly low end, but if you are happy thats great.

Joe

The mid range of the iPod headphones sound good to me, but I hear wildly distorted bass. Had to immediately switch over to some Sony EX70/71's... ahh much better.

Dolemite

I also think that the included headphones sound nice. Well, for the five seconds or so that they stay in your ear before popping out.

I wondered about the the headphone/remote connection. How is the headphone connected? Can you still use the remote while using 3rd party headphones? Thanks.

dmt1

I don't know if this has been been changed on the newer ipods, but the remote fits into the ipod, and the headphones fit into the remote--and it will work with any set of earbuds (I use my sony EX70's with mine--they're perfect for this as they come with a short cord that can either be used with the remote, or with the included cord extension, if I don't want to use the remote (although I prefer the remote...).

NiTRO

Yep, the connector on the iPod's earbuds is identical to any 3rd party headphones with a 1/8 inch stereo mini.

Island Roots

I thought they were great quality as well, but they hurt my ears because they were too big, so I ended up simply using some Sony wrap-around headphones.

Even though they're not as good in terms of quality, they're a lot more comfortable.

I think the Apple earbuds fit very nicely in the ear, but my sony buds definitely has better sound, so i use my sonys.

columbo

They're OK for bundled phones. A little tinny but the response isn't that bad. Better than the Sony bundled POS.

Excuse me while I fall off my chair laughing

The bundeled clip ons with the Sony Clie (expensive!) are great; much better than the Apple earbuds IMHO. I use those primarily.

Hmm, I haven't even tried my apple earphones, they are still all wrapped up. Right now I'm using Sony headphones, the sound quality is really good, although I don't have anything to compare them to.

I'm thinking of buying the Apple headphones with the remote, does anyone find the remote very useful? or is it just another toy to play with?

Although I dont use them, I have to say that for stock earbuds, the apple earbud headphones are pretty good (dare I say great) quality.

I've used many high end PCDP's, and high end MD/R units, and by far, the earbuds that apple supplies are the highest quality.

Tiger.Girl

i think the sony ex70-71's are a great boost in performance over the apple bud's at a decent value
not everyone has an extra $300 after the purchase of an iPod to go spend on some etymotic er-4's

Kenny

The EX70/71 are great at isolation and bass (and comfort), but Im not sure if they're necessarily better.
I think they sound more muddy than the stock earbuds (not by much though). However, in loud and populated areas, the EX70/71s definately have purpose.

The E888's are probably the best sounding sony earbuds you can get (they're only $10-15US more than the 70/71's). But lack the isolation.
