I Found Ipod On Plane - Looking For Owner
Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. I know this is a longshot, but I found an ipod on an airplane and I hope to find its owner. I didn't turn it into the flight attendant because she really didn't have it all together.
I was going turn it into the lost and found and file a specific report so that they could perhaps match the owner. However, when i spoke to the Lost and found people on the phone, they wouldn't even let me file a found report and the lost and found does not seem very centralized. I don't even know what city the owner is in! I also talked to a friend who works for the airline...and he told me that most things from lost and found end up being cleared out after a while to a place where they sell things found and never claimed. Anyway, that is why i am attempting to find the owner here. If you have lost an ipod on an airplane recently and can tell me what your seat number was, the flight number, airline, date, serial number??? (if you have it), the type of ipod...I'll get it back to you!! Send a private message. Thanks... I really wish there was a better way of finding the owner, but I was told it would be unlikely that it would be found through L&F. updated: After I posted this, I contact Apple, they have contacted the owner...thanks for everyone's advice. Ironically, I have now lost my own ipod. Strange how things work. At least this one will find its owner. Last edited by vgirla; 07-09-2004 at 01:38 PM. |

Does it have an apple logo on it? It may be mine in that case.
To be serious, I am so happy to see a decent human being trying to reach out. This person bothered to search out for iPodlounge, register herself, and post in order to find the original owner after considering other options and deciding that they are unsuitable and possibly unreliable. When I lose my iPod, I want to have it dropped in your hand. Please let me know how this works out. Also, what you could do is contact Apple and report a found iPod and give them the S/N for user information. They may or may not do it, but everyone will be surprised to see a decent human being doing something very kind. A while back I found $137 on a cheap money clip and tried to turn it into the mall's lost and found and thought twice about it. Luckily I found the owner in a nearby store, otherwise I would have been there longer than I wanted and wouldn't know whether to drop it back down or to keep it and use it for good. I know dropping it back sounds stupid, but losing my conscience for $137 will never happen. Maybe $1 billion dollars, but anything less isn't worth defacing one's pride and honor.

Vgirla, good first post.
I have posted this link over at Apple discussions. Hopefully between the two postings maybe the owner will be found (http://discussions.info.apple.com/we...uF25@.68966eae). I suggest that you call Apple 1-800-APL-CARE (275-2273) and report it to them just in case the owner contacts Apple about it. You can give them the info inside: Settings>About (iPod name listed there & serial number). They will not give you any info on the owner if the person has registered the iPod with them. Welcome to the lounge and were glad to have such a honest person amoung us.

And, hopefully, if the user has registered with Apple; they will be contacted by phone or mail. The world is lucky to have such honest people.
I remember walking up to an ATM to find a card still in the machine -- meaning anyone who walked up had access to the account. But, luckily, the man hadn't walked far enough, and I was able to catch him and return his card.

I too hope you find the owner. Alot of other people would have just kept it but you seem to be going beyond what alot of other people would do to find the owner. You may never find the actual owner and if you don't you will have a free iPod as payment for your good deed.
I wish there were more people like you in this world. I do hope you find the owner as I am sure he or she is missing there baby!!! |

I've got a good feeling about this story, it reminds me of the dog that traveled across the US to get home to his family. Good luck iPod.

Are you sure the one you found isn't yours and you are suffering from amnesia after being shot in the back twice on a mission to assassinate exiled African dictator and being left in the middle of mediterranean sea and trying to put your life together only to discover that you are a secret agent of the United States of America.
Sounds far fetched, but you never know. I hope there is a happy ending to this story and maybe a sequel that is due in Summer 2004.
