Folder and Exclamation Mark - iPod not working!
Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. Hey, I have a really serious problem with my iPod mini. I turn it on and the Apple logo appears, but then it starts making a clicking sound and a folder and an exclamation mark appear on the screen. It then just turns itself off. Anybody know why this is happening?
I tried to restore my iPod, but the iPod Updater and iTunes are not recognizing that it is plugged in, even though it appears in My Computer. I don't know what to do or why this is happening, please help me! I use iTunes 4.6, iPod Updater 1.0 and Windows XP. Please please please help me!

I have read and tried every help file on the Apple website. I guess I will probably have to return it for repair, but I was hoping someone might have experienced the same problem and be able to help me out.

Man you just described exactly what happened with my mini over the weekend. I tried everything on the apple site to try to fix it for 3 days with no luck..then today all of a sudden the damn thing started working and now works without any issues...
my advice is to still call apple...i'm going to send mine in because of the clicking sound..the hard drive could be messed up and cause you problems even if it still works. |

It's still not working and it's been about a week
Do you have the number for Apple anywhere? The UK number? I have looked for it and I think it's top secret information or something it's nowhere! Not even on my manuals or box.

Try 1-800-MY-APPLE
That is the north american number...I can't guarantee you it will work from the UK but it's worth a shot By the way, my ipod is dead again so I am definitely sending it back to Apple! Cheers |

I just this minute found the number for the UK. It's for the store but I'm sure they can direct me. I swear I need my eyesight checking I am blind as a bat it wasn't exactly hard to find on the page!
