I know what you mean. The shuffle is so light that you can often forget that you've put it down on your lap or in your pocket or whatever. So far i haven't got any scratches though.
neather have i
i have the feeling thats gonna happen to me when i get mine on wednesday.. i did dat with my old cheap mp3 player tho.. mayb ill be more careful.. and use the lanyard..
Not yet, though I wrecked my previous cellphone by getting out the car and forgetting it was on my lap!

does it still play music?
how is a scratch going to hurt it?
It hurts the sexy stylish look of it. No decrease in performance, thank god.
I'll follow what my friend said. At least there is no screen that you have to look at thru scratches, so it doesn't really matter. You can't really see the scratches unless you are purposely looking for them anyway.
LOL, i've dropped it plenty of times, but being so light, it just hangs there from my ears and the earbud headphones.. Doesn't fall out of the socket. It's even fallen out of the USB cap with the cord for your neck, that time I was soooo scared, but it was fine. It hung from my ears. Good ol light iShuffle
I throw mine in my pocket with my ex71's everyday at school. ITS WHAT ITS FOR. I have a 4g 20gig to obsess about screen scratches, but this the, like the other guy said. has NO SCREEN. I admit that when I somehow got a little crunch on one of the edges I was annoyed. But no Ive totally forgotten about it. Another note, your guys' heaphones must have long cords because even with the extender on my ex71s my ips wont touch the ground if I drop it. Then again I am 6'5'' so that might have something to do with it.
ok sorry for the speech
final words
the sooner you stop worrying about scratches on a screeless ipod, the happier youll be.
screened ipods are a whole other story
I used a vibrating engraver to 'carve' my name and phone number on the back --- looks nasty, but I might get it back if I leave it somewhere. Who cares what it looks like, as long as it plays the tunes!
it's more of a dent than a scratch... landed right on the edge of it and bashed it all in, like an ant took a bite out of it. *sob*

Yeah, so the shuffle is supposed to be used for an active, crazy, outdoor lifestyle. It's still an iPod, and I'm sure some of you have, or will have your share of heartache when you get a major scratch on your shuffle.
Well, I did today. When I was getting out of the car to get to class (I was late, and trying to hurry) I had my shuffle resting on my lap in the car. I got out, forgot it was in my lap, and it fell to the ground. Nothing major, though. Just a few hairline scratches under "iPod" on the back. You can only see it when a light glares at that exact spot. But, hey, I still dropped my iPod shuffle, and now it has a scratch, so that sort-of sucked. I still wub it, though. It was built to take a little abuse.
So go ahead, share you're stories (if you have any) of dropping/scratching your shuffle.
