40 and over ipod users

So what's like being over 40 and an iPod user? My sister told me I was too old (47) for such a gadget. She just don't understand....

Well unless you have lost your hearing then a person of any age can own an ipod as the main goal is to enjoy music. I don't see what age has to do with enjoying music so tell your sister to go "pull the stick out of her arse"

I'm not quite there yet but more power to you babe

I'm just glad iTunes and iPod came along, for they've gotten me back into a love of music.

What prompted me to raise this question are the results of the iLounge survey about the age of iPod users.

Same here.

I think the poll results will reflect that because younger people tend to visit the forums more.

The coolest thing about being of the older set is the WIDE variety of music I've got on my pod. Everything from 50s jazz all the way through the latest Black Eyed Peas. And ALL of it is music that means something in my life. When getting together with the rest of the family (all iPod owners and most much younger than I), mine's the pod that gets connected to the speakers. The kids are constantly amazed at what plays next.

Usually it's a song they know but the original. Oh covers - brings the generations together.

Arceon, you're lucky, my mom threw out my LPs and singles a few years after I left for college. I only brought small box of them with me and intended to get the rest later. But time moves fast. Most of my music back then was sixties and seventies, an era for which my wife clings to in terms of music. But yeah, I would love to have that full range that you have. That's a music collection at its best.

My mother is 51 and she's using my old 3g 15gb ipod and loves it. She can't even understand how she was riding the subway to and from work for the past 26 years without it.
