Just thought this might be an interesting question....
What are your most favorite EQ settings on your iPod... and which do you use the most? For me, my favorites are Acoustic, Bass Booster, Jazz, Lounge, and R&B. I tend to use Lounge and Jazz the most. With Louge, guess I just like to hear the mids a lot sometimes. plus, having more mids and less bass and treble seem to make the music more background music instead of 'in your face'. I listen to music all day long at work, so it kinda has to be background so I don't get distracted from the design projects I'm working on. ![]() With Jazz, seems to be more clean, clear sound, to me at least.

FOr the MDR-EX71SL's, I use Treble reducer to tone down those shrill highs.
With my Sennheisers and my Grados, I use either no EQ, Lounge, or Rock, based on the music I'm listening to.

I always use Bass Booster, unless i'm listening to my iPod on my stereo, because then it becomes *ss rumbling bass

Am I alone in saying that I don't use any EQ settings. My main reason is that I'm so used to listening to the vanilla versions that suddenly the sound becomes foreign and distorted. I don't get on with it.

Ha, Neb! I never even TRIED changing EQ! It's the record producers job, hopefully with some input from the artist. My job is to listen.
There ARE good reasons to adjust equalization. I'm just kind of a passive listener. I let the machine choose the music and how it sounds. Shufflin' along... |

AFAIK, a lot of us don't use the EQ. It doesn't make a huge difference, and it drains the battery faster.

Just picked up a pair of MDR-EX51s last night and was disappointed that I was getting a ton of high-end distortion. Then I remembered that I was playing with the EQs over the weekend and forgot to turn them off. Turned them off and now everything sounds perfect to me.

er6i: rock, just can't get over the congested high's and peaky mid's of mid-range canal phones, but with mp3gained 89db mp3's and the rock eq, these sound just as crisp, flat and punchy as my sr-80's.
Grado sr-80's: nothing, because they sound pretty good, wait, EXCELLENT straight out o' the 'pod. for all those out there complaining about eq distortion, try lowering the volume in the volume tag of your files (easiest with mp3 and aac, thanks to mp3gain), it will eliminate the distortion

Preset EQ is one of my biggest gripes about my 60gig. I find it insulting. preset EQs are for people who don't understand the sound they are listening to. Maybe they will fix it some day with a firmware update. One can only hope!!!

maybe apple things it's to 'complicated' or 'confusing' for the average ipod user. Guess they really don't care much about the audiophiles
