Issues syncing iPod

I just recently bought a new PC, a Dell Inspiron with Windows Vista. I installed iTunes, and updated it to version 9.0.2.25. My library was transfered over from a back up i did from its previous resting place.

I go to plug my iPod into my computer and have issues with it attempting to sync and then ejecting. It goes something like this:

I plug in my iPod.
Both the computer and iTunes detect it.
iTunes attempts to start syncing
iPod is automatically ejected.

I have reinstalled iTunes, made sure my iPos was fully charged, rebooted the PC and reset the iPod. The issue continues to happen every time i plug my iPod in.

Is there anything that can be done to try and correct this problem, or am I just hosed. I still do have most of my music on the iPod, I just can't get anything that wasn't synced (like my Christmas music or new purchases) to be put on.

I turned off automatic syncing. I can now have my iPod stay connected to the computer. It is still detected by both the computer and iTunes.

Yet, when ever I try to sync the iPod, it still automatically ejects from the computer. So I still can't add new music to my iPod.

I'm afraid to try clicking the restore option in iTunes under version, because if it still doesn't sync after that, I no longer have any music on the player and I'm completely hosed.

You can try the restore to see if it works, but before you do that, copy all the contents from that iPod to your computer first. To do this, use CopyTrans.
