Recently my iPhone 3G has been having random funny moments, i will be listening to music through it and it will suddenly pause, play, skip a bit, squeak, speed up a song anything yet remains untouched. Anyone no what this might be? the play/pause button on my earphones doesnt seem to be working either so i suspect it could be this but then it is simply a play/pause button so this would not explain why it speeds up. Anyone else experienced this?

I had this problem a few months ago and got the iPhone replaced. Seems that that one didn't like to play nice with non-Apple headphones.

This also happened a few weeks ago with my current iPhone and I realized that my cable had gone bad. Only happened when it was plugged in. The wire got worn right under the plug that goes into the bottom of the iPhone. Got a new cable and haven't had the problem since.
