Hello,
I am new to the world of ipod and have treated myself to a ipod 160gb classic.
The intention is to have mainly music on it, but I also wouldn't mind the odd DVD or two.

I can get music onto it no problem at all, but I can't seem to add any of the DVD's that I own.

I have a couple of favorite DVD's that I can watch while travelling etc, but have no idea how to convert / add them.

I'm using itunes 9 to do the stuff!!

Please help

Well, you can't do it with iTunes 9.

First step is to get a decrypter: e.g. DVDFab, DVD43, DVD Decrypter. Google will help you find them. Keep in mind using these programs is technically a federal violation in the U.S. (and similarly illegal anywhere the U.S. has purchased parliaments or the equivalent to force international adoption of the DMCA). Also keep in mind they have yet to make a big deal about it and if you bought the DVD you should do whatever you want anyhow, lord knows I do.

The reason you need a decrypter is that the data on DVDs has been encrypted. The decrypter decrypts the encryption scheme and rips the actual DVD data to your hard drive (you'll obviously need between 4-8GB free for this part).

Once you've got a decrypted DVD, go grab yourself handbrake. It's got plenty of iPod/iTunes/Apple TV presets, something there ought to work for you. Point it at your decrypted DVD, select what you want, and get converting.

Then import it into iTunes.

If that's not clear enough, try searching, there's only about 8 billion pages on this subject out there.

Hi,
I've just done this myself with DVD43 and Handbrake.
Very simple and good results.
Good luck although you won't need it,

I think Any DVD Converter can help you, it just has the output profile for iPod, it is very easy to use.
