Multiple copies of songs on ipod - Why?!!

I'm having big problems with transferring the Starsailor album to my ipod. Basically when I transfer it using ephpod ceryain tracks are getting multiplied so I end up with four copies of one track, three of another etc.

I have checked the tags and got them all matching on all tracks ie artistname, album title etc but its still mutiplying them on tranfser.

Anyone any ideas on what is causing the problem.what could fix it? Its starting to get on my nerves now!!

Are you sure that you don't have multiple copies of the songs? Also, are you deleting the versions on the iPod so you have no copies by this artist and then reuploading them?

Also, what are you using to tag? I hope not MMJB. It has a bug in their tagging which causes this issue.

Hi Adam,

Been using mp3tageditor to tag them. Definatly dont have multiple copies of the songs. it just seems to be multiplying two or three of the songs. I've checked and checked the tags but it keeps repeating the problem.

Tried deleting them frpom ipod and starting again but it just repeats the problem next time I synch.

I'm at my wits end with it!

Just done a search on one of the songs that is multiplying.

On the search its finding 3 copies on the same song in the same directory. If you view the directory they should be in, there is only one copy of it!

Very strange.

In your tag editor, make sure you delete all id3v1 tags. Then wipe the iPod and reupload.

Also, after your wipe the iPod, try Rebuild iPod Database option under tools, just to make sure your iPod database doesn't have junk in it from past syncs.

Its physically not duplicating files.. The ipod is showing it up more then once because of your tags... so like maybe your tags are causing this.
