Hi.
1st time poster. be gentle. Been lurking and learning for a while, but now have a problem I need help with. I use mediacentre 9.0 and in an attempt to clean up my system I have been trying to take some guidance and do things like (gasp) remove musicmatch... here's the problem - when I go into the remove program thing in control panel (I use win xp home), the little utility tells me it is removing musicmatch jukebox, and then does no such thing. It stays proudly in place in the "add or remove programs" screen, despite popping up a window saying it has been successfully removed. I want to get totally rid of it as it seems to be all over the place. The music match ipod handler thing has gone (which is good) but the main app will just not uninstall. Your advice please. Many thanks, Tim. |

Good ol MMJB.
![]() Fear not Tim, we'll be gentle and welcome to the 'lounge. This is probably most likely due to MMJB's poor programming than anything else. I hate to say this, but try re-installing it, then uninstall the MMJB iPod Plugin, then uninstall MMJB. You've got to do it in that order. Hopefully it will fully uninstall this way. Good luck, let us know how it works. Adam

Hmm. Thanks for the tip, but I've tried that (I was actually following your help guide thing and it did mention that was the order they needed to be removed in.... :-) )
The ipod plugin seems to uninstall fine, but the main app just won't go and hangs around like a bad smell, even after a reboot. I also found and followed something in the microsoft knowledge base that took me into registry and tried to find MMJB in the "uninstall" section in there (not a registry expert by any means, so did this very carefully). There wasn't a sausage to do with MMJB in that directory, although there was a fair bit elsewhere in the registry. Needless to say I left well alone. My pod is syncing and stuff in MC9 just fine, but I was following your advice in the guide to get rid of MMJB as it works in funny ways in the background and for some reason I can't make MC9 my default application. Is there a way to reinstall MMJB without running the whole of the ipod disc and reinstalling all that lot as well? I suppose this isn't life threatening, as my ipod is working ok, but it is #### annoying. |

alright....I caught this thread REALLY late, but in case anyone's still checking it out.....I'm having the exact same problem! It says that it successfully uninstalled, but the program is still there, icons and all. Anyone have a solution for this?

Are you saying that MMJB is still indicated in your Add/Remove Programs list? If it is, the easiest way to remove it from there is by downloading PowerToys for Windows XP (just do a Google search), there's an applet in there that will remove disassociated programs.

Well it is in the list, but it's also everywhere else. i.e. the Program still exists and works, it's listed under Start>Programs, it's an icon on the desktop, and also in the quickstart. As far as i can tell, the uninstall isn't happening at all, even though it says that it is.
All of this is made all the weirder by the fact that I had previously done an uninstall and reinstall, and that time the uninstall worked perfectly. |

My approach to this has been to try my hardest to ignore MMJB and just get on with enjoying MC9. Sadly I can't help the fact that I have the kind of brain that is irritated that I can't solve the problem of the lingering application, and I won't be happy until it is sorted.
If anyone works out what to do, be sure to let me know. I presume apple will bundle i-tunes in the future so we won't be seeing this sort of problem again? Had exactly the same problem - the only solution I have to completely remove MM is to use a previosu system restore point. I know this is not a completely satisfactory answer, but it will remove MM from your system.

it klate on thsi one but just found this thread on searching for a solution to this problem. I've been trying to get shut of MM from my XP Pro for ages. Still cant suss it. I cant uninstall the ipod plugin as support file is missing. Both are still in teh Add/Remove, and both are still in program files. Even tried the uninstall file provided with MM .. that doesnt work either! Says uninstalled but sits there laughing at me
![]() Anyone have any more ideas on this subject?! Cheers |

Musicmatch is like somekind of frustrating virus in my opinion!!
It created all kinds of havoc on my xp machine!! Well it caused major problems in a very important program to me called mkw compression. Once the mm virus was extracted from the machine everything was back to normal. So, good ridance!! ephpod for me thank you!! |
