Angry 4G 20MB Ipod will not connect to Musicmatch 9.0

I just bought a new 4G 20MB Ipod and updated to MusicMatch 9.0 - I am running Windows XP Home and have a 450Mhz computer which I believe is not compatible with Itunes. I cannot get Musicmatch to recognize my new IPOD even though it is recognized by Explorer. The sync arrows begin to show up when the device is plugged in, but when I do a "Send to portable device" via MusicMatch, it does not recognize it at all - it simply asks if I want to install a plug-in which I ALREADY did twice via the Apple site. Is this a new issue for the 4G Ipods and/or Musicmatch? Haven't seen any posts on this...

I'm having the same problem with XP Pro; I've read all the FAQ and tried just about all solutions so would appreciate "any" help you have for a novice at this; I have the 20GB Ipod, which worked perfectly with my old computer

If you look under the link for the iPod plugin on the musicmatch site it says for "1,2,3" (gen) iPods. Maybe the plugin does not work for the 4G. I had the same problem so I just used musicmatch to edit the tags and then used to EphPod to transfer the songs and it worked fine.

i have 4 gen and it works fine 4 me.

after u install apples software, 2 include itunes, reboot your computer. go 2 http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120313 and download (right click/save as) the musicmatch plugin...remember location.

uninstall itunes and ipod software, reboot computer.

go 2 location of downloaded musicmatch plugin and double click. this will install musicmatch's ipod updater and ipod 4 windows.

this should allow steamless connection.

hopefully this helps

Music25: Just wanted to say thank you.. Your adviced worked!!!! I'm so happy. I love musicmatch and I love my Ipod. I just purchased a 4th generation and was having trouble configuring to MM. My 3rd Gen did not give me this much trouble.

Thank you

Music25 or anyone else that did this,

Did the musicmatch file that you downloaded mess up your cd/dvd drive? I tired twice, and each time after I downloaded it and double clicked on it my cd/dvd drive would no longer read any cd's or dvd's.

I had the same problem a while ago and I just stopped using MMJB and switched to iTunes with no problems at all.

Thumbs up Forget MMJB, go for iTunes!!

I have been struggling and suffering with MMJB for two years. AS I liked it, I never wanted to replace it with ITunes or any other package, but I finally got tired of struggling with each new version for making it recognize my iPod again. Also while each new version of MMJB tries to be more complete (and more similar to iTunes) I noticed it was worst in terms of performance, freezing my PC many times while adding new songs, or sorting. Worst of all is version 10, it is really slow. And after upgrading my iPod (20GB touch wheel) OS to v1.4 I was not able to make MMJB recognize it. After 5 days of frustration and no information or solutions at the MMJB site I decided to try iTunes. This is a great package!! It is nice, easy to use, it is fast and simple to synchronize with my iPod, and it is free!! I am just feeling bad I didn’t change long time ago. So if you are having trouble with damned MMJB, don’t waste your time, change to iTunes.

Music25's note: Not sure if it only works with MM9.0 or not. I've tried all the other little tricks. But the little trick seemed to work with MM10.0...until I went to scroll for the music (click wheel version), which, apparently took four hours and nealy 10gbs (the latter expected, not the former) to find that the ipod does not read it at all. Besides countless hours and nearly 1000 albums on MM, I also love how it towers my music. I'm at a loss and ready to send the ipod packing. And when one places itunes back on the compter (3rd time), itunes seems to disable MM from playing. So I simply downloaded MMagain (which always forces me to accept the latest 10 version) and it works fine. All (ALL) the music intact.

>I don't know how to transfer music from MM to iTunes. I'd be happy to live with and make selections in iTunes. I just can't figure it out. Perhaps it's the mp3s to aac thing? i have to tell you, the ipod's sexy, but it's absolutely not worth spending time rebuilding the library again.

help with transfering within programs?
