Hi,

i have written a little application to copy music from your computer to the iPod, from the iPod back to your computer and (maybe the best thing) from one iPod to another iPod.
Because of this application is written in java you can use it on Linux or Windows or even on a Mac. Here you can find some screenshots.
The Homepage is only in german (until now) but if you start the application (called "JakPod") on a system with an default locale that is not german you will see an english version of JakPod. I hope JakPod is self-explanatory. If not - don't hesitate to ask (here or in the JakPod Forum).

Maybe one important thing to know: you need a Java 6 JRE to run JakPod. You can download it here (the 4th download from the top).

A short "installation" instruction:

- download JakPod (from here)
- extract the downloaded "zip" package to a place you want (e.g. "D:\JakPod" or even on the iPod itself)
- navigate to the installation folder ond start JakPod by using the "jakpod.bat" (on Windows) or "jakpod.sh" (on Linux - remember to make it executeable).

Thats all.

Give it a try - it's freeware.

Synchronization from iTunes to iPod is especially useful if you want to synchronize from your iTunes library to an iPod which is linked/synced with another iTunes library.)

Libraries

Repair Tool

Audio

In addition MPEG-4 audio data in M4A and M4B containers are supported. All relevant metadata (titel, artist, album ...) is read from the common Apple-Tag, used by iTunes and other encoders.

Photo, video, artwork and more...
Poddox’s development is at an early stage and by far not all aims are reached. The support of images, videos, artwork and other features is not completed yet. But PoddoX is growing fast: new versions with further tools will be released regularly. PoddoX becomes a real alternative to Apple’s iTunes.

Installation

I have created a new FREE software tool for windows to create chapterized audiobooks for the iPod, iTunes and Quicktime called Chapter and Verse.

I started this project in April of 2008 when I couldn't find a simple way to create audiobooks with chapters under windows.


Description of Chapter and Verse

Starting with Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) formatted files, the user can combine multiple input files into a single audiobook file with chapter marks. Chapters are created automatically at the start of each input file and chapters can also be added at regular intervals specified by the user. The user can add, modify or delete chapters for the combined audiobook. If a single file with existing chapters is selected, the user can then add to, modify or delete the existing chapters.

The user can specify the metadata or information tags (e.g. Title, Artist, Album, Composer and Comment tags) as well as the cover artwork for the audiobook.

A virtual copy of the audiobook is created to allow the user to test the changes and to be able to listen to the audiobook. The user can then add a chapter at specific position in the audiobook based on the position of the player during playback.

Additional tools are provided to import/export metadata, artwork and chapters. The user can also query the audio properties of input files.
