The .mp4 audio files should just play. Try reinstalling.

Just to be clear, are we talking about M4P files or MP4 files?
MP4 is most commonly used in iTunes for video files (MPEG-4), and I'm not sure whether you can play these in Winamp, as it's not a video player (although I believe there are plug-ins that will play the audio portion of a video file through Winamp). On the other hand, audio files in iTunes will have an MP3 extension, or M4A, M4B or M4P (for AAC). M4A and M4B should play just fine in Winamp, although M4P files are protected tracks downloaded from the iTunes Store, and will not play in anything other than iTunes.
