I have a few CD sets that are multi disk sets. The tracks on the disks are not titled. I named them in the following format...
Disk 1-Track 1
Disk 1-Track 2
Disk 1-Track 3
Disk 1-Track 1... and so on...

When I select the artist or album it sorts itself...
Disk 1-Track 1
Disk 2-Track 1...

Clearly this isn't acceptable. How can I name them so they sort correctly?

I had that, I couldn't figure out an elegant solution, so I used this stopgap:

Give your track names a 4 figure Disk#Track# prefix so tracks go like the following example (note the artist names are in the track name field as this is a compilation)

Then click the trackname titlebar in MC to sort by track name

I suppose you could transfer this numbering scheme to the track number field, then the ipod may read it correctly too, but I'm too lazy, if you try it & it works, let me know?

Cheers...

But but but what happens when you break out the 100cd boxset? Doomed I tells ya, it'll be like the millenium bug disaster all over again! :D

Nah it's a good point, should have thought of that, but I'm not gonna rename all my double CDs - I've got far too many of 'em!

UPDATE tho MMarz, use the numbering convention in the 'track number' field, & use the same album name for all discs. iPod WILL then sort them correctly & allow you to choose/play all songs from all discs in the set, in the correct order (and in only 1 'select' press) .

My actual naming convention is this:

Artist - Album - Track # - Title - Genre - Year

Right now I am listening to OLIVIA - The Return Of The Chlorophyll Bunny - 02 - skip to a little - JRock - 2003.mp3

This makes it a piece of cake to tag, and since I have a lot of OOP Japanese tracks I never have to worry about trying to find any information on a if CD my database becomes corrupted and I have to start from scratch.

This isn't for everyone, but it is the only way I can do it.

FAO: northernlights ...!

Hey northernlights, i downloaded the bootleg/mash-up album you used as an example... I was just wondering if you knew what is was called?

Please let me know, i have all the artists names and tracks etc, but not the name of the album itself!!
