past ipod hater.

how many people here used to dislike/hate the ipod before they decided to get one and or used a friends?

i remember back around when the 2nd and 3rd gen ipods were out i was always flaming my friends that had them. i had heard that the battery life sucked and the battery only lasted a year, and that the audio quality was crappy, and that the hdd broke really easy.

well, as my music collection grew and grew i knew i needed to get a bigger capacity mp3 player. at first i wanted a creative zen, cuz they were cheaper and had a longer battery life than the ipod. but i finally realized that the ipod wasnt a machine from hell so i decided to take the plunge and buy an ipod mini because at the time i only had about 300 songs. well at first i felt really special cuz it was so cute and sleek, but after hours of trying to get it to work i took it back to the apple center (a month later) and told them the problems and they said that they would check it. they gave it back to me an said there was no problem but i insisted and they sent it off to singapore to be replaced, free of charge. even though i had a lemon on my first go i was happy w/ apple because of the ease of their service. well, when i got my new ipod back i tried to load it up only to discover it had the same problem as the last. at that point i decided it must be something wrong with my computer, but decided to give apple one more run by to see if they would replace it. sure enough they did and i am now on my third ipod that had been working for the past 1/2 year with no problem what so ever. (knock on wood) so it has been a rough journey but in the end i have become an ipod lover, and further more, an apple lover because of their great service.

now that i told you my whole ipod story did you hate they ipod before you got one?

When I first got an MP3 Player, I was going from a CD Player so I wasn't interested in holding my entire collection at the time. And that was around the time of iPod's Dirty Secret which made me Anti-iPod...

Now that I was always stuffing my 1GB Memory card with 64kbps MP3s to fit as many albums as possible and started thinking about getting a 1GB card for my Palm because I could play even lower bitrate OGG files (So more albums) I then realised I should invest in a Hard Drive based player.

So I researched them, still hating the iPod, I looked at all players except the iPod and couldn't find one that I would like. They all had problems *IN ADDITION TO* what I hated about the iPod (Non replacable battery) so I figured I should give the iPod a chance and researched it.

I then realised it could do all I wanted and then some, so I bought one.

Also I have to say, that while I am not going to switch to Mac, now that I have an iPod, I am a little less Anti-Mac than I used to be...

I've always been a fan of Apple technology. I only switched to an iPod Mini early last year and a Mac around 200ish days ago but I've never had any complaints against Apple.

Great to see that so many people are coming to the "light" side

Neistat Bros = Attention whores. They are full of it. They could have (at the time of their call) replaced their battery for 30$ themselves or paid 50$ for someone else to install it.

They have way too much time on their hands. Just watch "Bee Killer" on their website

Anyway yes. I used to hate iPods. But not just iPods...Apple itself. Now...I really wish I had gotten that Mac two years ago .

The first time I saw an ipod was my friend's. She has a 1gen ipod. It looked like a miniature brick to me, but once I started playing with it my mind was open to the idea. At the time I didn't have an ipod or any digital music player, so the thought of having my entire collection with me at all times was out of this world. As my music collection grew (and still grows) out of control, I decided to check out the ipod at the Apple store. I was amazed at how small ipods really are, and was introduced to Apple in general as a easy to use product. I got an ipod a few days later. Since then I have not left the house one time without the ipod. I carry a large selection of music with me, so I'm always listening to something and am entertained. I liked the ipod so much that I checked Apple out more and got myself a Powermac 2.5 dual. Apple makes awesome products and everything "just works".

I recommend the ipod to my friends and co-workers. 4 of my friends purchased ipod, and there are about 8 people that I work with that got them since i got mine, I believe the amount of music i have on the ipod and streaming music with itrip convinced them to get one as well. And that's my story.

I use to not like ipods (realize how i didnt say hate) because:
1. Most of my music was in WMA so I thought it would be a pain in the @$$ to do the conversions
2. I used WMP and didnt want to use iTunes
3. I disliked the battery, (still not a big fan but i can live with it)

But now that I use I tunes and converted the WMA to AAC, im stuck in the world of ipod. I found out how great itunes is compared to. To anyone reading this who was in a simmilar situation as I was, give iPod a chance, you wont be disapointed.

I've always favored the iPod.

Some of my friends on the other hand do not like them (possibly because of iPod's overratedness), though they do admit they want one, contradictory I guess.

At first the iPod did seemed to be over-rated...
But when I got one,
There was nothing to complain about.

A mate of mine started using iTunes and I was disgusted with him. I said "How can you treat the lovely winamp like that?". I always liked the idea of the iPod, but since I had tried iTunes on my PC (Maybe that version was buggy) it seemed so unintuative and heavy.

Then I started studying IT where they were offering a free iPod for people joining in January. At about the same time winamp stopped working for me. (Was locking up my pc) So I downloaded iTunes 4.7.

Holky freaken nelly
It was so simply to import all my oggs over, tagging multiple items at a time, adding album art, creating incredible smart playlists. I was converted.

Good work to apple on iTunes

I always hated Apple products for the exact reason you all say you like them: they just work, they look cool... I am more of a tinkerer who actually enjoys troubleshooting and stuff. When my uncle asked me if I wanted an iPod for christmas, I told him I would like an mp3 player, but not the iPod as it was apple. My uncle, an avid apple fan, got me an iPod mini anyways (I think it's part of his evil plot to convert me), and I've loved it ever since... although I still don't like admitting it.
