Well... I wasnt really into music that much. I had a cd player with 1 cd... That was pretty much it. Searching through some crap one day, I found my dad's old flash based mp3 player. I had a few techno songs on my computer and loaded it onto this ancient thing. It was a 64mb player... It was one of the first mp3 players. I played around with that thing (It was a Rio... Couldnt ever find the name of it) for a good year until more flashed based mp3 players started popping up at my school.
I had gotten good grades around then, and I am usualy rewarded so I started thinking about getting a new mp3 player. I started researching mp3 players and I came upon the iPod. It blew my mind! This thing was top notch. Talking it over with my parents, it was now November, I started mentioning the iPod. My dad did some research on it. He loved the idea of it, but not the price. I didnt get anything that semister for my grades because I decided to have the iPod for Christmas. As the end of November rolled around, I was thinking about the iPod. Thats a ton of space and I have less than 10 songs... Why did I want this? I told this to my parents and they where a little upset. (It turned out they had already bought it for me) So Christmas day arrives, and among presents like a capture card for my Xbox, I thought that was it. Oooh no, there was something more! Looking behind the couch I saw a square box and istantly knew what it was. I looked at my parents asking for questions about why they had bought this... I opened it up and started using it. I fell in love. It was the pure simplicity of things. The design was outstanding; no visable screws, no tacky lables telling you whats what, and an awesome chrome backing. It was amazing! So I loaded on my songs and realized... I need some music! I guess the iPod opened up my music horizon. At this time, I was into techno, metal, and pop-punk. Not any more. Looking through my dad's music collection, I found Pink Floyd. I had been into Red Hot Chili Pepers (Still am) and Pink Floyd reminded me that this genre was still there. So, looking through, I found 4 different albums to put on my iPod. I went ahead and deleted all my music except Pink Floyd. I listend to them for around a month until I found even more music. At this time, I was worried about bringing my iPod to school. I knew a couple of kids that had one, but they didnt really care about thier iPod. So I worked on the inDisguise. I took a CD player and dremeled the walls so my iPod could fit in. (See my sig) This worked great and I am still using it today. My friends with iPods are very impressed and I have already made 3 other inDisguises for them. They also use it. Back to the music... So Pink Floyd introduced me to The Beatles. You may be surprised, but The Beatles and Pink Floyd are very alike. The Beatles came an instant hit to me. I went out ithe next day to Best Buy and bought 4 albums. Their music opened up the door to a new genre for me: Rock! Around this time I was talking to my dad about my new music that I had gotten and he told me about U2. He was a big fan. Again, I fell in love. U2 has a wonderful message to me. I am a very involved Christian and I love listening to music about God that isnt cliched. For example: You the light of my world. Now there isnt anything wrong with that message, its just that I have heard it so many times before. So U2 found a way to incorperate Rock and Christianity. I loved them, and that Christmas, I had bought my dad the How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb album. I put that on my iPod along with 3 other U2 albums. I cant believe the iPod has lead me into this music journey! So, I continued along my music journey and got music like crazy. Along the way I found some little harder rock, such as Black Sabbath. There great. While I am trying not to go back to metal and pop-punk, I sure do like Black Sabbath. Anyway, now I have gone from 10 songs to 500. Thats a lot of music to me. I feel like my iPod is being used well. After this music, I came upon iPodwizard and Linux for iPod. My dad had (Just to let you know, my dad and I are like super nerds and really close; its pretty cool considering I live out in the boonies and I am the only one in 5 miles that has an internet connection) heard about Linux on the iPod and thought that was pretty awesome. Lurking on the iPod Linux forums, I found it was not working readily on the 4g iPod. So, I played aroung with iPodwizard and changed all my graphics up. I explained to my dad the generation thing and told him that the 3g was the only generation that wasnt in the beta for Linux on the iPod. Around this time my dad said a quote I would never forget: "It would be nice if you had an iPod just to mess around with." I had one a bet around then for 100 dollars (he he) and had 200 dollars all together. Looking on eBay, I found what I wanted. Talking to my dad, we bought the iPod and it was delivered last Friday. My dad was excited because it had ~3000 songs on it. I was to becuase the owner of this 3g had the same interests as me. When we got the iPod, I foolishly updated and lost the music. You probobly saw me flame for a while about my music. Thats life though, and I still had an iPod out of it. So thats where I am right now. I have an iPod 3g 15gb and an iPod 4g 20gb. Im planning on finding a 2g iPod to add to my collection.. I am working on hacking my iPod and this is what I plan to do: Paint it (colorware) brush it, hack it (linux), and change the color of my screen to red to match the LEDs on the 3g. Its been a wonderful journey and its all because of my iPod. And I am still on this journey! While I refuse to buy an Apple because I absolutely despise thier products, the iPod may open me up to an Apple laptop. It may happen who knows? Before this I thought the iPod sucked because it was made from Apple. Thanks for reading, just thought I'd share!

And I still don't see the point of that duct tape case. It's ugly, it's bulky (isn't the point of an iPod to reduce the size of your portable music device?), and it's ugly some more.

Wow, your so special. You fell in love with a friggen piece of metal and information. I have one, and I like it, but you're just a freak. Music is music, iPod is a music holder... nothing more to it. It just looks cool and can be operated by almost anyone, which allows people like you to start givin' their iPod some lovin'... quite literally.

U2 had nothing to do with Christianity. You're thinking of Creed.

I mean...why? Why do you people do this to your beautiful iPods? It makes me want to cry.

You are an idiot. I have a contour showcase. I put the showcase in the Duct Pod to store it. I do not use it.
