• With the number of recent threads from brand new users that we have observed in our Classifieds forum selling goods under questionable circumstances, we have instituted a new policy restricting new members of iLounge from posting new threads in the Classifieds forum until they have reached "Regular Member" status.

New users become Regular Members once they have made 10 posts and been a member of the iLounge Forums for at least 7 days. Prior to this time, members may still read the Classifieds forum, and even respond to existing threads for items being sold by other members, but they may not create new threads advertising their own items for sale.

This will hopefully help to protect our user community by discouraging fraudulent users from signing up and posting classified ads without having at least a very basic level of established membership in our forums.

Obviously all users should still exercise due diligence when making use of our classifieds forums, but we hope that this restriction will help to decrease the number of blatantly fraudulent ads that we have been seeing in recent weeks.

Please be sure to review our Classified Forum Policy for more information.

Well, as I have said many times before on here, I am going to be getting a 12" iBook sometime in the future. So, I was looking at it's configurations and seeing that it only has a ComboDrive, I was wondering if I could upgrade that drive to a SuperDrive like on the 14" iBook. If so, how much extra would that cost approximately?

Thanks in advance,
Pghmyn

Well, I know that page existed. I went to that page several times. But, I have heard that you could do more to the computer though. Also, that has nothing about disc drives.

You need to get the 14 inch iBook if you want the super drive. I tried to see if you could upgrade on the other iBooks but it wouldn't work. I guess it's the 14 inch or your stuck with the ATA drive.

Maybe if I go to the local Apple store when I buy it, they can upgrade it for me. I hope so, because I want to be able to burn DVDs also with CDs.

Actually, if Apple doesn't offer the Superdrive on the 12" iBook online, going to an Apple store won't be any different.

You *might* be able to purchase a Superdrive from say Other World Computing and install it yourself, but it doesn't appear that Apple makes the 12" iBook with the Superdrive. If you want the Superdrive you'll likely have to step up to the 14" iBook.

My local Apple stores allow BTO as it is one of the largest in South-East Asia. Additionally, as mentioned above, there are 3rd party retailers. Just pick up any Mac magazine and you'll find lots of ads.

I always thought it was 12" PB for 12" DVD burning.. No option for the 12" iBook, in any way, apart from user doing it themselves..
